You know that person that you think is soo great here on this planet? Maybe they are very accomplished, or maybe they are doing some kind of great work, or maybe you just like, like them, you know. Like she is the prettiest, or he is the coolest. Well let me me give you some information. They're not that cool or great.
If they're living on this planet, they have flaws. They're not great, they're human.
Now being human, they're are a couple of different kinds. First you have two different categories: the redeemed kind and then the nonredeemed kind. What that means is that before someone has become born again they are slaves to the human nature and the thinking of this world. They basically have no way of overcoming that. Once someone has had Jesus in the form of the Holy Spirit take residence within them, then they are redeemed. That means that now there is something very good about them. It's not them; it's Christ inside them. This Spirit of Christ, Spirit of the Father, or Holy Spirit rebirths their spirit and produces fruit coming out of them. That fruit is true love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and faithfulness.
Now we have two other categories in the redeemed camp: saints that are living according to the Spirit and saints living according to the flesh. Saints living according to the flesh will be kind of miserable. These are redeemed people that don't want to submit to Christ right now. For some reason they are listening more to the selfish nature and not to Holy Spirit promptings. Saints living according to the Holy Spirit are mostly listening and surrendered to Christ within. Therefore righteousness, joy, and peace fill their lives and the people around them.
So how do you tell, who is who? Well, actually you can't. It's sort of God's business anyway. You can tell fruit and therefore presume that someone is saved. Jesus said, "You will know them by their fruits." It can also be somewhat complicated. Sometimes what can seem to be good fruit can be man's doing something to please man to get attaboy without any Spirit prompting.
Also there is a scripture that says the God will pour out His Spirit on all flesh. So that means that someone who is not born again or redeemed can do or say something that is God prompted.
Now, I'm getting on another subject, but some would wonder if they can have confidence about salvation. That is subject for another writing, but I believe 1John would say that you can.
1Jn 5:11 This is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is found in his Son.
1Jn 5:12 The person who has the Son has this life. The person who does not have the Son of God does not have this life.
1Jn 5:13 I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
1Jn 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him: if we ask for anything according to his will, he listens to us.
1Jn 5:15 And if we know that he listens to our requests, we can be sure that we have what we ask him for.
So, it goes back to having the Spirit of Christ being in you and having been reborn from above. This Holy Spirit will now produce through you: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and faithfulness.
Now let me go back to what I was originally writing, though that was a good side note. Let's deal with even a redeemed saint on this planet and presume that they are living according to the Spirit. Are they good? Well, Jesus is good inside of them and their spiritman has been changed and made good. The mind still has remnants of the fallen nature, though it can be transformed by the renewing of it in reading/listening to scripture and by the help of the Holy Spirit. So in other words, they are not perfect yet.
There is one person who lived a completely sinless life. We usually focus on the fact that he was human. But truthfully, he was fully God and fully human at the same time. His name is Jesus Christ. He never sinned once in His life. Those that say He did, do not know Him. He was and is the spotless lamb. He also is the lion of Judah.
So maybe you respect someone's accomplishments. Maybe you are impressed with someone's kindness. If it's genuine then it's coming from the Spirit of Christ within them.
My focus is on Christ Jesus.
Joh 14:10 "You believe, don't you, that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own. It is the Father who dwells in me and who carries out his work.
Joh 14:11 Believe me, I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Otherwise, believe me because of what I've been doing.
Joh 14:12 "Truly, I tell all of you with certainty, the one who believes in me will also do what I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
Joh 14:13 I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14 If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it."
Joh 14:15 "If you love me, keep my commandments.
Joh 14:16 I will ask the Father to give you another Helper, to be with you always.
Joh 14:17 He is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor recognizes him. But you recognize him, because he lives with you and will be in you.
Joh 14:18 I am not going to forsake you like orphans. I will come back to you.
Joh 14:19 "In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.
Joh 14:20 At that time you will know that I am in my Father, that you are in me, and that I am in you.
Joh 14:21 The person who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I, too, will love him and reveal myself to him."
