2Co 1:4 "He comforts us whenever we suffer. That is why whenever other people suffer, we are able to comfort them by using the same comfort we have received from God."
2Co 1:5 "Because Christ suffered so much for us, we can receive so much comfort from him." (God's Word Translation)
Yahweh is the God of all mercies and comfort. Father can give us comfort if we will go to Him. By communing with God we can learn to access His comfort to us. We need to ask Him to help us commune with Him. The comfort can be even manifested in our emotions or our bodies in the form of healing. First step is that we have to know that there is a God and "He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him"(Hebrews 11:6). We can get our prayers answered by God when we do those things that please Him and ask according to His will. What is His will? Many things compose of it. One thing we can be sure is altruism is a certainty of His will because God is altruistic, or God is agape love. So when you pray for good for someone else, that is Father's will. When you pray to become more like Christ; that is Father's will.(Rom 8:29).
We as human beings need comfort in this fallen world. The enemy offers us different types of pleasure outside of God's truth and light to accomplish this. These devices become our master if we go to them. Jesus can set us free from these things. It takes not just forgiveness but deliverance. He has the power to set us free. Why? Because he took on all darkness of sin of humanity and allowed his physical life to die and then broke it by raising from the dead. Therefore, He has authority over all these devices or habits. We have to learn to break our wrong thinking and habits of behavior to be free. First we must be born from above(John 3). Then we have the same Spirit of Christ living in us to be free. Then we must learn to walk out our freedom by renewing our mind. This process also means forgiving others, being healed of past trauma, and forgiving ourselves.
We run from God partially because of the shame of our bad habits or sins. We also don't understand how God is. Our concept of God usually comes from our parents or guardians. Even the best parents are still a far cry from the unconditional loving Father Yahweh. He is waiting for us to come to Him and then He can forgive our sins because of Christ and set us free. His Spirit is groaning for this and for the maturing of the saints. Even those of us who have experienced God and heard him often have veils or shades that result in us not truly seeing Father God as He is. It has to do with us living in a fallen world among a fallen humanity with still some fallen thinking.
Let's pray together right now and go to Yahweh. Father God we thank You that You are so good, compassionate, kind, loving and just. We thank you that You made a way of salvation for every person in the whole world if they would be willing to come to You and accept your gift. We ask You to break our bondages by Jesus's blood sacrifice and resurrection power. We ask You to lead us in Your steps that You have for us. We ask You to heal our bodies, cleanse our minds, renew our hearts, and make us abound in every way so that we can bless others. Father we confess all of the ways that we know are wrong to you and ask forgiveness and cleansing now. We ask for the pathway so that we can leave those things completely. We want to be like You and like Christ. In Jesus name, Amen.
